Explore opportunities for making sustainability simple in everyday life

Posted April 25, 2025
On Saturday, May 17, the Chester County Planning Commission will host the 2025 Sustainability Summit and Expo — Chester County's premier sustainability event — at West Chester University!
Members of the public are invited to come out for a jam-packed day filled with information and opportunities to network with local businesses about going solar, maintaining more sustainable landscapes, reducing waste, and more.
The program will begin at 10:00 a.m. with two back-to-back presentations: Sustainable Energy from 10:15 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.; and Sustainable Landscaping from 11:15 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The presentations will be repeated from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. for afternoon attendees.
Other activities during the event will include an "Ask an EV Driver" car show (weather permitting), opportunities to chat with neighbors about their experience with solar or geothermal systems, rain gardens, and more; and an expo with more than 40+ vendors and community organizations to learn about.
The program includes a free lunch for all attendees, as well as a native plant give-away.
"Chester County's Climate Action Plan has a bold goal of cutting 80% of greenhouse gas emissions county-wide by 2050, and to do that, we all need to work together," noted Sustainability Director, Rachael Griffith. "This event will provide homeowners, business owners, and community leaders with clear information and local resources to help everyone get involved in making a difference."
We would like to thank the program's presenting sponsor, West Chester University, and Gold Level sponsors, TerraSol Energies and PECO, as well as many other sponsors.
