Chester County Gears Up for Sustainability Summit & Expo
April 22, 2025
Will driving an electric vehicle leave me stranded with nowhere to charge? Will a heat pump actually keep my home warm in the winter? Will I get scammed by the company trying to sell me solar panels? Will native plants make my yard look messy? How do I know if my landscaper is using green practices?
If you're like many people in Chester County, protecting the environment is important to you, but it can be hard to know what we each can do to have an impact and what information can be trusted.
To provide the best information on what residents, homeowners, and business owners can do to be more environmentally sustainable, Chester County is hosting a Sustainability Summit and Expo on Saturday, May 17, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at West Chester University.
The event will feature presentations by local experts on topics like heat pumps, solar power, rain gardens and micro-gardening and will offer opportunities to talk with people just like you who have installed geothermal heating systems, solar, meadows, and other environmentally-friendly projects at their own properties. There will also be an expo where attendees can learn about companies who offer sustainable services like solar installers and ecological landscapers, as well as organizations that are spearheading sustainability efforts in our communities. The event is in support of Chester County’s Climate Action Plan, which sets a goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 80% by 2050.
