West Chester Welcomes New Artist Coworking Space and Gallery

Chester County is home to a new artist focused coworking space and gallery located in the heart of West Chester Borough!
Ginkgo Arts offers unique spaces for local artists to display their work and enrich the community by assisting in development of growth and West Chester's creative assets, resources, and potential — according to their website. The space is located at 21 South High Street in one of the borough's historic Tudor-style structures, which was constructed in 1900.
The coworking space accommodates more than just artists — as painters, weavers, illustrators, digital artists, podcasters, writers, photographers, fashion designers, and other creatives can work together to help encourage and support one another. Additionally, the artists can participate in open studio events to showcase their work and connect with potential buyers once a month during First Fridays, or by appointment. However, additional hours will soon be announced.
"Our spaces provide a variety of artists across the economic spectrum a place to flourish within a community that will support, enrich, and foster their growth," their website also notes. The building includes 10 spaces, with 3 enclosed studios which may be appropriate for those who need visual or sound privacy. It also provides amenities such as private key fob access, security cameras, utilities, Wi-Fi, and limited off-street parking.
Resident artists include Landon Peacock, Theresa Groff, Karen McCool, R.S. Wallace, Natalie Butcher, Karen Lynn Morris and Diane Lemonides. The Daily Local News notes that guest artists and creatives Stuart Randall and Wood for Water, a 501 (c) 3 charity, also call the gallery home.
This initiative helps to implement both the "Prosper" and "Appreciate" goals in Chester County's comprehensive plan, Landscapes3, as it supports main street design and vitality, adaptive reuse, and historic preservation.
