Be part of the Greatest American Cleanup
As our nation prepares to commemorate its 250th anniversary, Keep Chester County Beautiful (KCCB) invite residents, organizations, and volunteers to take part in the Greatest American Cleanup right here at home. This countywide effort focuses on cleaning up and beautifying roads, parks, waterways, public spaces, and historic sites that reflect Chester County's rich history and strong sense of community.
By adopting a two-mile stretch of roadway, a park, or a heritage site, participants help care for the places that shape our local identity while building civic pride and volunteer capacity. These collective efforts will enhance highly visible, well-visited areas in advance of the 250th celebration and create a legacy of stewardship that extends beyond 2026. Together, we can honor Chester County's past through service and ensure these places remain welcoming, safe, and beautiful for future generations.
It's easy to get involved!
- Get a cleanup group together — See how to start your own litter cleanup group.
- Choose a road, park, or historic site from our suggested list or another road or area in your community that needs attention for 250 celebrations and beyond. Explore the interactive map to find roads and areas available for adoption.
- Adopt the road or area through PennDOT or Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful (KPB).
- Adopt-A-Highway (AAH): Volunteers adopt 2-mile sections of state roadway and commit to litter cleanups twice a year. PennDOT provides gloves, vests, litter bags, and a roadside sign. Program Facts and How to Get Started
- Adopt and Beautify (A&B): An enhanced version of AAH that includes landscaping and environmental projects in adopted areas. A&B Fact Sheet and Program Packet
- The KPB Road and Area Adoption Program complements the state's Adopt-A-Highway program by offering adoption opportunities for municipal roads, trails, parks, waterways, and public areas not maintained by the state. Volunteers and groups can sign up to perform regular cleanups in public areas not maintained by the state.
- Schedule, promote, and register at least two sponsored cleanup events at your site by July 4, 2026. By registering your event, you will receive free gloves, safety vests, and trash bags.

- The Pick Up PA website provides information on registering and reporting events, finding or organizing an event, supplies and resources, and education.

PennDOT's Roadside Beautification Program. For state-maintained roadways, PennDOT offers a range of programs to support litter cleanup and beautification.
KPB Land Stewards. For areas outside PennDOT's jurisdiction, KPB partners with PennDOT to extend litter prevention and beautification efforts to local roads, parks, trails, and waterways. Its core programs include:

Route 30 Pollinator Corridor Meeting
Keep Chester County Beautiful and the Easttown Township Environmental Advisory Council held an introductory meeting for residents, businesses, and organizations near the Route 30 Corridor to discuss opportunities for creating a "Route 30 Pollinator Corridor" on March 18, 2026. Easttown's EAC members talked about their recent successful pollinator gardens in partnership with local businesses, and participants had the opportunity to learn about and get inspired through Keep Chester County Beautiful and PennDOT's resources and programs.View Webinar Recording
