Photo Contest: Putting a Face on Chester County

We held a photo contest at the beginning of the Landscapes3 update process to get input from the public on what places in the county they valued. The response was great — 375 images were submitted that showcased rolling hills, vibrant main streets, historic homes, beautiful parks, and more.

Three winning images were selected from our first photo contest. From left to right: first place photo by Lee Schlingmann, second place photo by Kathryn Mims, and third place photo by Carol Slocum.

With such a positive response, we decided to hold another contest to see what else the residents of Chester County could show us. This time we are asking participants to focus on one of Chester County's other great resources: it's people! Is your favorite Friday evening activity eating out with friends in one of our towns or boroughs? Do you spend your weekend canoeing down the Brandywine or fishing from its banks? Is a business you frequent a blast? Or are your co-workers more like best friends? Are you lucky enough to work on a family farm? Snap a photo of you and yours hanging out and submit it to be in the running for a prize from one of our generous supporters.

The photo contest is open to anyone who lives, works, visits, or plays in Chester County. This includes you! It will begin on Monday, August 28th at noon and end at noon Friday, October 13. Have fun and good luck! Click here to enter the contest.

Anyone who submits a photo early by 5:00 pm Tuesday, September 5, 2017 will be entered into a random drawing for two tickets to Natural Lands’ Roots & Bluestems event. The event will take place from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm Saturday, September 16, 2017 at the Stroud Preserve in West Chester.

The photo contest series would not be possible without the generous support of our sponsors and partners from around the county: Longwood Gardens, Brandywine River Museum and Millstone Café, Dansko, Trek Bicycles (Exton), The Helicopter Museum, and The Palace Bowling and Entertainment Center. Please show your appreciation by visiting their websites and locations and get a taste of what Chester County has to offer.
